If I am not mistaken, it refers exactly to the colspan issue and it appears to be closed since August. If so is there a way to implement colspan?

Yes. But the closing date is Nov. 8, not Aug. 11 :) No colspan support. If you think that is important to you, please post Feature Request. Thanks.
