ZK is as thin as a presentation layer. You could use any persistent layer you like.

Fernando De Leon and Chanwit Kaewkasi ilustrated some patterns in small talks.
You might take a look first.

No,Hibernate + Spring + ZK is good article,but I hope it can add that it can implement User Interfaces include such as search,add,delete,change,find and more with ZK.

Hi,
I share your feeling when first look at ZK. The demo is very nice and show the power of ZK. However, how to use it to develop an application is not clear.
If a sample application exists, it will be wonderful.

P.S. Actually, I want to convert the sample application included with Struts to ZK when i have time.
