How about the licensing? Have you decided?

Would you mind to talk more about your project? Is it an end-user app or a development tool? Did you charge your users? Maybe we could solve things out.
DWR is good but it is hardly comparable to ZK in term of simplicity and completeness
-- of course, it is the author's opinion :)

I have an open source project on the Apache License.
Looks like I cannot use ZK then, because it is not compatible with my intended license.
In my opinion this is a problem - and curbs adoption of ZK. I would rather go with one of the AJAX frameworks like DWR.
Hope ZK can do something about this, because it looks like a rather nice framework!

Excellent licensing options..
however you may need to make it more public that it is a dual license scheme as oppose to just GPL.
Maybe some ppl that dont want a just GPL license may be turned off from looking into this cool project my 2 cents ;)

It is now available. Take a look at
http://zk1.sourceforge.net/license/index.html
It is based on the dual license model, which I feel most comfortable. We, therefore, put all our energy to make the product better, rather than worry which feature shall go to which edition; or wonder whether to cut the support of open forum in favor of paid customer.
For other OSS projects, the dual license model work well. For the private individuals, ZK is free, too (as long as you dona€?t distribute it). For ISV, the cost of per-developer license is, I believe, only a few percentage of what you save with ZK. For contractor or ASP, per-CPU license might be a better option.
The choice is yours.
The dual license model is not perfect, and we get no interest and energy to look back on who shall pay or not. It is, after all, a good balance regarding strong user base, collaboration, and profitability.
Thanks for your warmly support since the first day ZK is opened. It is always the major force to drive ZK better (and to let us feel great).
Regards,
Tom Yeh
