Initialising the GUI

Hello again...

I wonder how to initialise my GUI. I have a few .zul pages with some components. Now I want to fill this components (textboxes, labels, tabpanels,...) with values out of my database when the page loads.

Is there any "best practise" how to do that?
Or could anyone give me some keywords to google for it please?

Is there an event I could invoke automatically when the page loads? (because then I could do the initialisation here)
