I opened perspective ZK and I'm selecting ZUL Visual Editor view

Eclipse says:
Fail to initiate Visual Editor for this project (Unknow Error).

I upgraded and activated this morning (but did not yet restart Eclipse untill now)

Everything else looks just fine and the editor worked with version 0.9.4

I've three versions of ZK in the ZKs project, 3.0.8, 3.6.1 and 3.6.2, the last time i saw it work it was with 3.0.8

(The project is a maven Eclipse WST webapplication, works fine)

Regards, Huub

could you provide us a more detailed description?

By the way, the function could only effected while you are using Zul Editor and ZK Style Designer.

It is solved: by changing <project>/properties/ZK/visual editor

The exact moment when the error message appeared:
I'm looking at ZUL Visual Editor
It normally reads:
=============
Not Available, a Visual Editor only works with ZK supported Editor.
=============

Then switch to a tab with a zul page and the editor it reads:

=============
Fail to initiate Visual Editor for this project (Unknow Error).
Please check following condition of your project:
This project must be a Java Project or Dynamic Web Project
Preferences in 'Project > Properties > Visual Editor' has been configured correctly.
A Java Project must associate to a validate ZK package.
or, A Dynamic Web Project must has validate zk jars in WEB-INF/lib or associates to a validate ZK package.
The minimum set of jar to run zk:
commons-collections.jar
commons-logging.jar
zcommon.jar
zcommons-el.jar
zk.jar
zul.jar
zweb.jar
============

To answer the troubleshootlist

Preferences in 'Project > Properties > Visual Editor' has been configured correctly.

My setting was:

ZK\
\VisualEditor\
\radiobutton WEB-INF\lib

I changed this to the other radiobutton and choose a zk distribution

Than it worked again.

I installed 0.9.4 by configuring the 3.0.8 distribution download

In the properties ZK understood the other two distrubutions itself.

So it's ZK magic once more. Works great.

Very well, and if you have any ideas to make VE to be easier to configure, please let us know.

It is important to note that if you import a maven project, with multiple modules, and the web module is one of the sub modules, ZK Visual Editor will not work for the same reason described here. I am looking into a fix.

I do not know what to do. I had it working at one point, a couple months ago, but I'm not sure what I did.

rm -rf .classpath .project .settings/ web/{.classpath,.project,.settings} rmi/{.classpath,.project,.settings}

And then I re-imported and it worked. Why it did, I have no idea, as I had already done that once. But, it has now associated my web project with ZK. I was then simply able to go in to "Project -> Properties -> Visual Editor -> Use ZK Storage" whatever that means.

Oh, I also modified "Project -> Properties -> Zeta -> *"
default source: /src/main/java
Default view folder: /src/main/webapp

use ZK Storage, means you are asking ZK Studio to use an ideal environment from ZKs to host your zul file, so to ZK VE, now only the zul it's self matter.

Idea environment form ZKs? Does that mean it grabs stuff from your web site?

btw, it would be nice if ZK Studio would detect a maven project, and use the stuff from that. It could just go to ~/.m2/repository/org/zkoss/* for the jars and what not.
