as of now ZK 9 is hasn't been released yet. Once it is released, you can use it.

Have you already tried integrating with a FL version? Did you encounter any problems?

I replaced the version in this line in of the example project with 9.0.0.FL.20191129-Eval and the project continued to work as before. Maybe that already answers your question.

I have tried to change / override versions using the properties tag but to no avail. However, when I grab the example project pom and change version to 9.0.0.FL.20191129-Eval and run it, it's still using 8.6.0.1 CE:

2019-12-03 11:01:49.393 INFO 7080 --- [ main] org.zkoss.zk.ui.http.WebManager : Starting ZK 8.6.0.1 CE (build: 2018112010)

I'm ok with not being able to use 9.x but I would like to use my 8.6.0.1 EE version.

I can't help without your full project, since it works on my side and not on yours there must be a difference between our maven configuration, usage.

There's definitely no limitation on which version you can add as a dependency (some older ZK versions before 8.5 might not have all features).

If you can't share your project/configuration in public please contact your ZK support.

I changed it to 9.0.0-RC2 and it's working as expected.
