Spreadsheet cell highlighting/ coloring in CE version

Experts,

Please help to advice that if I have a requirement to highlight a cell due to validation rule failure, can I do this in Spreadsheet CE version.

I saw some feature of 'color picker' not available in CE version of Spreadsheet. What exactly is 'color picker'

I tried to fire an event on change of a value in a cell, which is suppose to change color of the font in the cell, but it is not working. Wondering if in CE version, this is inactive?

If this feature does not works, is a there any other alternative in CE, to highlight?
