You can but you have to distribute the source code to your customers and your customers will be allowed to distribute your application to others for free. Usually you would go with the commercial licensing in that case.

First off, I'm really impressed by ZK framework, and think that it's more dev friendly then GWT - I had to fight GWT for every class code I create, so it can compile properly without some bizarre exceptions.

I have 2 licensing questions as well and it might be interesting to other readers, unless you want me to ask you by email.

We are a little startup company that do not sell any web applications to end-users, we offer free services (monetizing with ads like Adsense or affiliates) and premium access (no ads, additional premium options), think Yahoo Mail free/premium as an example.

My questions:
1) based on our business model, do we need to get commercial licence for ZK 3.x framework to go live? Or can use GPL route and, because we do not distribute anything (we web host) to the end users, we comply with ZK GPL terms without making our sources public (security issue) ?
2) with ZK 5 - is it correct that ZK 5 LGPL license allows us to offer our web-site services without opening our sources for our business model?

Thank you a lot!

hi I am not from zkoss company, but with GPL you can run any GPL code on your server without giving the sources to the user (so called ASP hole), but you give Javascript to your users, so any javascript you make has to be GPL as well.
