I'm fairly new to the web server/hosting stuff, but have been a programmer for some time. I use a web host provider; where do I install the zk and associated jar files if I don't have access to the tomcat directory? My web host uses Apache.
Can I even do this without their cooperation? I'm a little familiar with .htaccess file.
thanx
steve

Tom,
You means ZK's jar can be deployed to WEB-INF/lib. If yes, you may need to clarifiy on following blog
: http://www.jroller.com/page/sdevijver?entry=zk_the_good_and_the
which state:
Class loading: I'm not aware of the details but ZK suffers from some class loading issues. The fact that ZK jar files have to be placed in the shared lib directory of the web server is a sure token of this. This puts a burden on the deployment and maintenance of applications.

Hi Michael,
Yes, you can even deploy them to both WEB-INF/lib and shared/lib:)
I'll follow the link you mentioned. Thanks.

I also have a question relating to this. I am able to run the demos and samples on tomcat on my localhost. How do I run zk on my web server though? Do I need to install (or upload) something on my web server? My web host is 2mhost.com if that helps at all.
Like the original poster, I am a software engineer, but I don't know much about Web 2.0 programming. Thank you.

You can just put all ZK releated jar files under you WEB-INF/lib folder of your application.
