When I made a new dynamic web project, according to the quick start manual, the result project was not a valid ZK project.
The trick is to select the ZK configuration in the "Configurations" combobox. Then it works!!
You can also enable ZK in project initialization, press the "Modify..." button on the right side of Configuration section on first page of New Dynamic Web project wizard to open Project Facets manager.
