Menubar Hover problems

Hi there are 2 problems which iam facing in the menubar.

1) In the menubar I have a backgroound image over which i have the menu headers.When i go over the menu header ie on hover the header is hilighted by blue colour.But I want that to be transparent.I dont want blue or any other color to come on hover.

2) In the menu popup when i go over the menu items,i have light orange as the bag fore menupopup and dark color for hover.When i go over the menu items ,the block area over the text only gets bg of the dark color and other parts remain the same light orange color.

What can i do to over come these 2 issues?
